how to…

…keep your bike safe on the street.

The powers that be left this poster in the foyer of my friend’s building, and even though it was hard to get a decent picture of the whole thing – especially as it was behind glass, I found it amusing/interesting.

I use two D-locks for Fly – a large one that I know will always it around the frame, wheel and post, and a smaller one that will sometimes fit locksaround all three but mostly just around either frame and post or wheel and post.  If you often cycle in the city, multiple lock methods are probably the best way to deter thieves, plus if you opt for a cable lock with a d-lock, you can pretty much guarantee that you will be able to attach your bicycle to almost anything.
Opt for strong cable locks rather than ones with inbuilt locks/padlocks as these can prove to be something of an Achilles heel. You can also register your bike at http://www.bikeregister.com/ or http://www.immobilise.com/
